For those of you who know me, you can remember over 9 years ago when I first launched Wiseguy Caps. The logo was off-centered and looked like is was made with Windows '98 Paint, and the website itself was dated just as ancient. When it launched, it was simply a way for me to vent about my personal analysis for betting NFL games, and to kill time while I worked overnight shifts at the Holiday Inn Express in Mankato, MN.
Time really does fly and after years of being in and out, contemplating my life sitting in an office from Monday through Friday, hating my every being of glazing through weekly team meetings, I've decided to put my full attention and focus back into Wiseguy Caps.
Wiseguy Caps never really left but it's certainly been reinvented in many ways. I've tried a video pick 'em show when I bought that green screen (which might be making a comeback), I've tried selling my picks and analysis as a tout, and even making poker/gambling content through various social media outlets. When I sit back and think about how this brand can actually make a name for itself, I had to dig deep and think about this long-term.
I'll be fucked if I'm going to sit here trying to earn a living while charging people for pick analysis on games that I like. Gambling has forever been engrained in me, all the way back to the racetrack growing up, and the reason this all started was so I could write about and talk about the industry and culture that I have such a deep passion for.
That said, I have decided prior to the upcoming 2026 college football season, Wiseguy Caps will be fully operational, and all picks & analysis will be posted for free. I'm planning to grow this gambling syndicate brand to ultra-high levels, and to me there is no sense in building that through a monthly subscription paywall.
On a daily basis, I will be posting 2-4 picks that I like with minimal subtext/analysis. These will be categorized under our Daily Quick "DQ" Picks.
For games and picks that I really like, I will be posting my full-fledged, old school fiery articles that include full pre-game breakdowns and in-depth analysis. These picks will be posted on the VIP Picks page.
As for my personal opinions on anything outside of individual games, I will be writing an ongoing blog with the goal of posting several new blogs each day. Most blogs you'll notice will tend to lean into the gambling and casino lore that I've been so fond of for the better part of 2 decades. These will be posted as Top Stories on my Blog page.
And lastly, Wiseguy Caps will continue to build it's name alongside casino and poker culture, with my TikTok and YouTube channels dedicated to additional content around the gaming industry, no limit Texas hold'em, and everything to do with sports betting. I will continue to fill the Media page up with incredible content. This also includes my 2x/week podcast Barry the Books which can be found anywhere you listen to your podcasts.
So while Wiseguy Caps has had several avenues over the years, I believe I've finally figured out the path that makes the most sense, and that is to truly provide an ungodly amount of content for free, for anyone and everyone to enjoy. The FCS football season kicks off in less than three days, and I've got a shit ton of games to review. Stay tuned folks.
