CFL Week 12: Hamilton Tiger-Cats +4.5 (-110) @ Toronto Argonauts

Grabbing the +4.5 with Hamilton on the road at BMO Field against their rival Toronto Argonauts is the smartest play on the Week 12 card. These two East Division foes met earlier this summer, with the Ti-Cats grinding out a thriller. Hamilton’s offense is humming behind dual-threat quarterback Tre Ford, whose elusiveness and quick-release intermediate passing consistently neutralize edge pressure and extend high-leverage second-down possessions. Toronto’s defense has shown severe second-half fading trends, recently surrendering an embarrassing 31-3 second-half run while ranking near the bottom of the league in turnover margin and coverage busts.

Chad Kelly and the Argonauts' offense can strike quickly, but Kelly's aggressiveness comes with a heavy dose of volatility and interceptable throws under pressure. Hamilton’s front seven brings elite ball-hawking tendencies, excels at forcing second-half takeaways, and matches up well against Toronto's vertical passing schemes. Hamilton has won two of their last three games straight-up, demonstrating the late-game execution required to hang inside a single-possession spread. Taking an energized Hamilton squad getting more than a field goal in a tight rivalry match is pure sharp positioning. Expect a back-and-forth fight that stays well within the 4.5-point margin.

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals ML (+138) @ Philadelphia Phillies

Taking the Cardinals as a fat +138 road dog at Citizens Bank Park is a direct play on starting pitcher split trends and an overvalued home favorite. St. Louis hands the ball to Sonny Gray, whose secondary pitch metrics—specifically his sweeper and curveball usage—suppress hard contact at a top-tier rate (allowing less than a 32% hard-hit rate over his last four starts). Gray faces a Phillies lineup that, despite their marquee names, has seen a major spike in chase rate against high-spin right-handed breaking stuff, leading to empty swings and elevated pop-up rates.

The Phillies counter with a rotation arm coming off inflated workloads, leaving their middle relief exposed against a patient St. Louis order. The Cardinals' bats excel at working deep counts, drawing free passes, and forcing visiting starters out before the sixth inning. Philadelphia's bullpen carries elevated late-inning walk numbers (BB%) that lead to high-stress base traffic when protecting short leads. Grabbing a veteran ace like Sonny Gray holding elite swing-and-miss depth at a huge +138 price tag offers massive value against a cooling Phillies order.

WNBA: Indiana Fever +2.5 (-105) @ New York Liberty

Grabbing Indiana at +2.5 as they head into Barclays Center to face New York is a play on historic offensive momentum and backcourt misdirection. The Fever hit Brooklyn following a fast-paced battle in Dallas where Kelsey Mitchell dropped 37 points—extending her league-record streak of 20+ point games to 21 consecutive outings—and Caitlin Clark added a heavy assist load. Indiana's backcourt pace is creating massive half-court space, ranking near the top of the WNBA in transition scoring and forced secondary scrambles.

New York brings elite interior size with Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones, but their perimeter defense struggles against high-volume, quick-release pick-and-roll schemes. When Clark and Mitchell collapse the defense early in clock cycles, they force New York's primary rim protectors out onto the perimeter, opening up high-percentage looks for Aliyah Boston inside. Indiana has already knocked off the Liberty twice this season by dictating tempo and out-rebounding them on the defensive glass. Taking the Fever getting points on the road with two premier scoring weapons locked in is the play to cash.
